Open Letter to the Koch Brothers

Dear Charles and David:

I am an independent climate researcher—a researcher skeptical of human-induced global warming.   I am writing to inform you that, contrary to popular myths, you do not, as far as I know, contribute financially to bloggers who are skeptical of manmade climate change.

I am pleased to announce that I would welcome one-time or annual contributions from your foundations.  My needs are small.  $5,000, or $10,000, or $20,000 annually would help to allow me to continue to research climate change, both manmade and natural; to publish blog posts; and to author ebooks that illustrate and discuss the many flaws in the hypothesis of human-induced global warming and the research papers that support it.  As you may be aware, many of my blog posts are cross posted at the award-winning science blog WattsUpWithThat?

Please feel free use my PayPal donations/tip link for your contributions. Or if I need to complete an application, please advise.

I thank you very much for considering a contribution to my climate science research efforts.

Sincerely,

Bob Tisdale

    This should be interesting.

  2. Ben Palmer says:

Comme on, Bob, you wouldn’t want to keep all this money for yourself. I’ll send you my bank account details by email. Feel free to transfer as much as you can.

  3. JohnWho says:

Such an obvious heartfelt appeal can not possibly be ignored by the most benevolent Koch brothers.

  4. Tom Harley says:

It would be a wonderful investment, and achieve results, unlike the BEST investment that was made by the brothers.

  5. Tiburon says:

Oh I do hope they have a sense of humour, Bob, and Do So! (contribute to your excellent work) Since we’ve apparently reached the Bread & Circuses stage of civilizations, I at least would appreciate some meaningful entertainment. {cue exploding heads across the CAWG blogs) And Remember that publicity, whether via approbation or notoriety, is always bank-able. 😉

  6. Brian H says:

Everything I’ve read about the Kochs I like. Good luck.

  7. leon0112 says:

Perhaps they can send you the money they were planning to send to Nova.

  8. A.D. Everard says:

Good on you, Bob. I think this should have been done earlier. I do hope it takes. If there is any justice in the world at all, the Koch Brothers will learn what is going on, will re-evaluate where their generosity is going now and will realize how savagely they are being treated by the alarmist crowd, who already receive millions from governments (I should say, rather, from newly impoverished taxpayers) everywhere.

I hope they come over to the genuine scientific side and help the world wind back from alarmism, from environmental destruction in the name of Green and from the killer policies that are undermining civilization across the globe.

Good luck in all you do.

    Y’know what Bob..

If the Koch guys had any sense of humour, they would send you just $1 🙂

  10. AndyG55 says:

ps.. Love your work , Bob.

  11. ShrNfr says:

Given they are MIT types, you may have a better shot at support than you think you do. As an MIT guy myself, MIT folks like hacks, pulling beards, and tweaking noses.

  12. WillR says:

    Bob:

Could you please add my name to the list of willing recipients?

Pretty Please. I promise to buy a bigger Ford Truck. OK?

  13. jono1066 says:

Please find included donation to add to the potential Koch donation.
at least I can then blag to all my friends that I was a co-sponsor with a couple of big hitting american guys

A dollar worth framing, I’d say. If you get the $1 from them Bob, let us know.

I’ll then chip in or buy the frame – to be determined by whether it is gold plated or petroleum based plastic.

    🙂

  15. Bob Tisdale says:

Thanks, jono1066. I’ll email you if the Koch’s come through.

    Regards

  16. Love it.

As if there’s anything wrong with asking for or getting some funding. And you’re asking for it voluntarily, unlike most scientists who take public funds, which is to say money extracted involuntarily from taxpayers.

Does that mean there science is wrong? No. But it’s absurd to criticise you for selling some ebooks or asking for some funding. I doubt they’ll take you up on it for publicity reasons to avoid yet one more vector of attack, but if they do, so much the better.
